Vial & Ampoule Tray
120 × 40 × 20 mm standard · 0.4 mm wall · PVC / APET / PET / PETG
A thermoformed pharmaceutical packaging tray that holds glass vials and ampoules individually - preventing glass-to-glass contact, maintaining orientation, and protecting product integrity from filling line through cold-chain distribution to the clinical end-user. Standard 120 × 40 × 20 mm in four material grades; all dimensions and cavity counts fully customizable

Thermoformed vial & ampoule packaging tray
A pharmaceutical-grade thermoformed tray that separates and individually supports glass vials and ampoules - preventing glass-to-glass contact, maintaining fill orientation (cap-up or cap-down), and absorbing shock through filling, inspection, labelling, and cold-chain distribution.
Standard size
120 × 40 × 20 mm at 0.4 mm wall thickness accommodates most small-to-medium pharmaceutical vial formats. All dimensions, cavity counts, hole diameters, and materials are fully customizable with appropriate tooling.

Why cavity trays matter
A glass vial without individual cavity support risks glass-to-glass contact during conveyor and shipping vibration - producing glass chips and particulate contamination that can enter the drug product through stopper puncture. Thermoformed trays eliminate this risk by separating each unit in a dimensionally-matched pocket.
Customization scope
Cavity diameter matched to your vial OD, overall tray dimensions matched to your carton or blister format, wall thickness from 0.25 mm to 0.6 mm, cavity count from 1 to any number, and choice of four material grades - specify all parameters at time of order.

Complete specifications - all cavity configurations
Full dimensional and material specification for all four standard cavity configurations. All values represent standard product; all are available as custom to any specification on request.

Material selection determines optical clarity, rigidity, recyclability, sterilisation compatibility, and cold-chain performance. Choose by application requirement.
Polyvinyl chloride
Rigid · standard · cost-effective
The globally dominant thermoformed pharmaceutical tray material - excellent clarity, good rigidity, and the lowest cost of the four options. Default specification for most vial and ampoule trays where EO sterilisation or cold-chain performance is not the primary requirement.
Excellent clarity
Lowest cost
EO compatible
Not recyclable
Brittle < −10°C
PVC
Amorphous PET
Recyclable · EU preferred · clear
The preferred material for sustainability-focused brands and European pharmaceutical markets. Fully recyclable under PET #1, clarity equal to PVC, chlorine-free. The standard PVC replacement in EU pharmaceutical packaging procurement.
PET #1 recyclable
Excellent clarity
No chlorine
Narrower forming window
APET
Standard PET
Rigid · chemical-resistant · heat-tolerant
Semi-crystalline PET provides higher rigidity and better chemical resistance than APET - preferred for trays exposed to solvents or reactive materials, or where elevated temperature exposure up to ~70°C is expected. Recyclable under PET #1.
Highest rigidity
PET #1 recyclable
Heat to 70°C
Limited deep-draw
PET
PET-Glycol modified
Deep-draw · −80°C · EO compatible
The most formable PET variant - glycol modification eliminates crystallisation during forming, enabling deep-draw cavities with complex geometry. Maintains clarity and impact resistance to −80°C, making it the specification for ultra-cold biologics, mRNA vaccine trays, and cell therapy packaging.

Where these trays are specified
Thermoformed vial trays are used at every stage where glass containers must be individually supported - from filling line through distribution to clinical preparation.
Fill-finish production
In-process · orientation · conveyor
Trays used on the fill-finish line to hold vials cap-up during filling, stoppering, and crimping. Maintains orientation and prevents glass-to-glass contact under conveyor vibration. PVC or APET standard.
Retail & blister kit
Consumer kit · blister card · shelf
Tray as the formed lower half of a blister card, sealed with printed paperboard or foil lid. 5-cavity and 10-cavity are standard configurations for retail pharmaceutical kit presentations. APET preferred for recyclability claims.
Cold chain & biologics
Frozen · −80°C · mRNA · cell therapy
PETG trays for ultra-cold chain biologics - mRNA vaccines, cell therapies, and frozen drug products stored at −80°C. PETG maintains impact resistance where PVC and standard PET become brittle and shatter under dry-ice shipment conditions.
Air, Sea, Train, all transportation can acceptable and we have so many forward all over China port.
