Pharmaceutical injection
packaging box

A custom-printed pharmaceutical carton designed to hold ampoules, vials, and injectable preparations - combining high-quality multicolour logo printing with the dimensional precision required for compatibility with automated fill-and-finish cartoning lines. Supplied flat-packed in precise die-cut blanks; erected automatically on-line.

Primary function

The printed pharmaceutical carton serves two simultaneous functions: it is the secondary packaging structure that physically contains and protects the vial or ampoule, and it is the primary brand communication surface at point of dispensing. Every printed surface - front, back, side panels, flaps - is a brand and regulatory compliance opportunity.

security & authenticity

Custom logo printing combined with serialisation, 2D datamatrix barcodes, and optional holographic or UV security features provides a robust anti-counterfeiting package - critical for high-value injectable peptides, biologics, and controlled medications where product authenticity must be verifiable at every stage of the supply chain.

regulatory compliance printing

The carton face area accommodates all required regulatory information - INN, brand name, concentration, batch/lot number, expiry date, storage conditions, manufacturer details, POM / Rx status indicators, and pharmacopoeial references - while maintaining clear visual hierarchy and meeting the minimum font size requirements of EU, FDA, and PMDA labelling regulations

What to provide at order

To receive a quote: (1) vial or ampoule dimensions (OD × height); (2) carton style preference (straight-tuck-end, reverse-tuck-end, or tuck-top); (3) insert tray required (yes/no); (4) print specification (colours, logo files, pantone references); (5) quantity and delivery destination. We return a confirmed carton dieline and print proof within 48 hours.

Designed for the automated line

In pharmaceutical fill-and-finish operations, the paper carton is erected, loaded, and closed entirely by automated cartoning equipment - no human handling. Every dimension, score line, crease depth, and board stiffness must fall within the machine's operating parameters or the line stops. Our cartons are engineered and validated for automated line compatibility.

lat-pack magazine feed

Cartons are supplied flat-packed in counted stacks and loaded into the cartoner's magazine. Board stiffness (specified at 300–400 gsm SBS) must fall within the machine's magazine ejector force range - too limp and the blank won't eject; too stiff and it jams. We specify board caliper per your machine model on request.

Auto-erect suction opening

The cartoner's suction cups grip the front face of the flat-pack and erect it into a box shape by applying opposing forces on front and back faces. Score line consistency - depth ±0.05 mm, position ±0.15 mm - is critical here. A poorly scored blank will crack at the corner during erection or fail to hold its square shape, causing misloading and jam events.

Bottom tuck-close before loading

The bottom tuck flap is closed first - either by machine tucker bars (straight-tuck-end) or by a glue applicator (glue-end). Our STE cartons are die-cut to ±0.2 mm so the tuck dust flaps engage the side wall slots without force variation that causes tuck jams or loose bottoms in high-speed runs.

Vial / ampoule load and top close

The erected carton (bottom closed) passes through the load station where the vial or ampoule - optionally with insert tray - is inserted from above or the side. The top tuck flap is then closed by the machine. The inside box dimension is specified at vial OD + 1.5–2.0 mm per side for smooth machine loading without product rattling.

Serialisation & vision check

A 2D datamatrix barcode and linear barcode are inkjet-printed on the closed carton by the serialisation module, and immediately verified by the cartoner's vision system. Our print surface (matte or semi-gloss varnish) is specified for inkjet adhesion and machine-vision contrast to ensure 100% verify-pass on the line without re-runs.

Professional print specification

Every visible surface of the injection packaging carton is a brand and compliance communication surface - printed to pharmaceutical trade standards with registered colour, verified to ΔE < 2.0 lot-to-lot.

CMYK

4-colour offset printing

Standard · high volume

Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black offset printing on SBS or duplex board. The industry standard for pharmaceutical carton printing - consistent dot gain, sharp text at 6pt minimum font size, and registered cross-colour alignment to ±0.1 mm. Minimum order quantity applies; per-unit cost reduces significantly at volume.

Screen ruling: 175–200 lpi standard

Minimum font: 6 pt positive, 8 pt reversed

Registration: ±0.10 mm across 4 colours

ΔE colour deviation: < 2.0 lot-to-lot

PANTONE

Spot colour / brand matching

Premium · exact colour

Pantone-referenced spot colour inks for exact brand colour reproduction - essential when your corporate identity colour cannot be achieved by CMYK process mix. Pharmaceutical regulatory bodies require consistent colour for product identification; spot colour eliminates lot-to-lot drift. Available alongside CMYK process on 5-colour and 6-colour press configurations.

Any Pantone Solid / Pastels / Metallics

ΔE < 1.5 from Pantone reference standard

5-colour: CMYK + 1 spot; 6-colour: CMYK + 2 spot

FOIL

Hot-stamp foil & holographic

Security · premium · anti-counterfeit

Metallic hot-stamp foil (gold, silver, copper, coloured) applied over the printed carton surface - providing a distinctive premium finish and a physical security element that cannot be photocopied or digitally replicated. Holographic foil with custom diffractive pattern is available as an enhanced anti-counterfeiting measure for high-value injectable products.

Gold, silver, copper, coloured foil

Holographic pattern - custom diffraction design

Applied over print - combined security layer

UV

UV spot varnish

Tactile · selective gloss · premium

UV spot varnish applied selectively to logo areas, product name typography, or graphic elements - creating a high-gloss, tactile raised finish against a matte overall surface. Provides both a premium visual and tactile experience at point of dispensing, and can serve as a subtle security element (visible under UV light) for anti-counterfeiting.

Spot UV over logo / product name

Matte overall + gloss accent combination

UV-reactive invisible security version available

EMBOSS

Embossing & debossing

Tactile · logo relief · premium

Blind emboss (raised relief without ink) or deboss (recessed impression) applied to the front face - most commonly used for the brand logo or product name to create a three-dimensional, tactile brand mark that reads as premium clinical quality at the point of first touch by the pharmacist or clinician.

Blind emboss (no ink) - logo only

Foil + emboss combination available

Minimum feature width: 1.5 mm

SERIAL

2D datamatrix & barcode

Serialisation · track & trace

Serialisation 2D datamatrix (GS1 standard) and linear barcode are either pre-printed at production (static) or inkjet-applied on the fill-and-finish line (dynamic). Print surface specification (matte coating, white or light background) is confirmed at order to ensure machine-vision read rate > 99.9% on your serialisation equipment.
