How to use the injection pen correctly

‌Preparation‌: Before using the injection pen, make sure your hands are clean. Prepare the injection pen, needle, cotton swab, 75% medical alcohol and waste container, etc. If the injection pen is stored in the refrigerator, take it out 30 minutes in advance to restore its temperature to room temperature. ‌

‌Installation of needle‌: Use 75% alcohol to disinfect the front end of the injection pen, take out the special needle and insert it vertically into the interface, and tighten the needle clockwise.

 

 

‌Venting‌: Rotate the dose adjustment knob clockwise about 2 units, remove the outer and inner needle caps, stand the pen vertically, flick the injection pen to make the bubbles gather at the needle, and press the dose adjustment knob to expel the bubbles.

‌Adjusting the dose‌: Adjust the required dose according to the doctor's instructions to ensure that the selected dose is consistent with the doctor's advice.

‌Selecting the injection site‌: Common injection sites include the abdomen (5 cm away from the navel), the outer side of the upper arm, the front and outer side of the thigh, and the outer upper side of the buttocks. Avoid continuous injections in the same area to avoid subcutaneous fat hyperplasia, depression or nodules.

‌Disinfect the injection site‌: Use 75% alcohol to disinfect the skin at the injection site to ensure that the disinfection range is sufficient.

‌Injection steps‌: Hold the injection pen, check the dosage, quickly insert the needle at a 45-degree angle or vertical direction, make sure the needle is completely inserted into the skin, press the injection push button, and slowly inject the liquid. After the injection is completed, keep the needle subcutaneous for at least 6 seconds to ensure that the drug is completely injected into the body. Then quickly pull out the needle in the direction of the needle insertion, and press the needle eye with a cotton swab for 30 seconds to stop bleeding. ‌

‌Remove the needle‌: After the injection is completed, unscrew the needle and the needle cap from the injection pen counterclockwise and put them into the waste container. Put on the pen cap to prevent air or other contaminants from entering the pen core and the liquid from leaking.
