Disc counting mechanism - how it works
+
-
Capsules are fed from the hopper into a rotating disc with precisely sized holes - each hole accepts exactly one capsule. As the disc rotates, capsules fall through the holes in single file into the output chute. The count is registered by a sensor as each capsule passes. Changing the disc changes the capsule size accepted - making the same machine suitable for size 000 through to size 5 capsules.
Upgraded model - what changed
+
-
The upgraded edition features improved motor stability for consistent low-speed counting, an enhanced digital preset controller with programmable batch counts, a revised disc locking mechanism that reduces disc wobble and count errors, and an improved output chute geometry for cleaner capsule flow into containers. Backwards compatible with all disc sizes from the previous model.
GMP-compatible documentation
+
-
CE-marked machine with GMP-compatible documentation - user manual, maintenance log template, calibration check procedure, and IQ/OQ template available on request. Suitable for use in pharmaceutical teaching laboratories operating under academic GMP principles and for small-batch regulated research productions.
Low power - lab-friendly footprint
+
-
At 0.55 kW, this machine draws less power than a domestic kettle - compatible with standard 220V laboratory electrical sockets without dedicated industrial power circuits. The 130 × 75 × 150 cm footprint fits in a standard laboratory workspace alongside other bench equipment.

OPERATING PARAMETERS
output, speed, and mould compatibility
Output rate varies by capsule size and disc speed setting. Smaller capsules (size 3–5) run at higher throughput; larger capsules (size 000–0) run at moderate throughput for count stability. All outputs shown are approximate rates under normal laboratory conditions.

lAB - SCALE PRODUCTION
Six advantages of lab-scale capsule counting
Designed from the ground up for the unique demands of laboratory, teaching, and small-batch environments - where flexibility, accuracy, and simplicity matter more than maximum throughput.
cost
Fraction of industrial price
Teaching budget · research grant
friendly
A full industrial capsule counting line costs 10–50× more and requires dedicated floor space and maintenance engineers. This machine delivers professional-grade counted batches at a price accessible to university departments, teaching hospitals, and research institutions.
Academic budget-compatible pricing
No industrial electrical installation needed
Low ongoing maintenance cost
5 min
Disc changeover - no tools
Flexible · multi-size · fast switching
Swap from size 0 to size 2 capsules in 5 minutes - no tools, no engineers, no production downtime. A single machine with multiple disc moulds covers all standard capsule sizes used in a teaching or research laboratory, eliminating the need for multiple machines.
Disc changeover in ~5 minutes
One machine covers size 5 through 000
No tools required for disc removal

Count accuracy per batch
Preset counting · digital display
The digital preset controller allows you to set an exact batch count - 100, 500, 1,000, or any custom number. The machine stops automatically when the preset count is reached. Count accuracy of ±1 capsule per batch exceeds manual counting reliability and eliminates the patient safety risks of miscounted pharmacy preparations.
Programmable batch preset (any count)
Automatic stop at preset count

2m²
Small laboratory footprint
130×75cm floor area · standard lab
Fits in a standard pharmaceutical laboratory room alongside existing equipment. No dedicated machinery room, no special floor reinforcement. The 130 × 75 cm base occupies the same floor space as two laboratory benches, making it practical for multi-use research rooms and teaching laboratory spaces.
Standard lab room compatible
No dedicated machine room required

The capsule counting machine requires minimal maintenance - designed for laboratory environments where dedicated maintenance engineers are not available. All routine procedures can be completed by laboratory staff following this guide.
maintenance guide
cleaning guide
Step 01 · After each batch
Remove residual capsules
Turn off the machine. Remove all remaining capsules from the hopper and output chute. Use a soft brush to sweep capsule fragments from the disc surface and chute area. Do not use compressed air inside the counting zone.
After every batch
Step 02 · Daily
Wipe-down cleaning
Remove the disc by releasing the locking mechanism (no tools required). Wipe the disc, hopper, and output chute with a cloth dampened with 70% IPA or 70% ethanol. Allow to dry completely before reassembling. Do not immerse the disc motor housing in liquid.
Daily or between product changes
Step 03 · Weekly
Disc & sensor inspection
Inspect the disc holes for capsule fragment buildup or damage. Check the count sensor optical window is clean and unobstructed - wipe with a cotton swab dampened with IPA. Inspect the output chute for capsule residue in corners. Record inspection result in the maintenance log.
Weekly
Step 04 · Monthly
Mechanical check & lubrication
Check all visible fasteners for tightness. Lubricate the disc drive shaft bearing with a small amount of food-grade lubricant (provided in maintenance kit). Test the emergency stop button function. Verify count accuracy by running a manual 100-capsule check and comparing to the digital display.
Monthly
Step 05 · As needed
Disc replacement
Replace the counting disc if holes show visible wear, deformation, or if count accuracy degrades below ±2 per batch. Discs are consumable parts available separately. Record the replacement date and disc size in the maintenance log. Contact supplier for replacement disc orders.
As needed · wear-based

Do - cleaning best practice
Use 70% IPA or 70% ethanol for disc and chute cleaning
Allow all parts to dry fully before capsule loading
Clean after every product changeover to prevent cross-contamination
Use food-grade lubricant on the disc drive shaft only
Log all maintenance activities in the machine log
Don't - avoid these actions
Do not immerse the machine body or motor housing in liquid
Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads on disc surfaces
Do not operate with a damaged or worn disc - replace immediately
Do not bypass or disable the sensor without authorisation
Do not attempt internal motor repairs - contact manufacturer
