Lyophilized Powder Vials

Type I borosilicate · Lyo optimised · RTS/RTD · USP/EP

Depyrogenated Type I borosilicate glass vials engineered specifically for freeze-drying applications. The flat bottom geometry maximises contact area with the lyophilizer shelf surface - optimising heat transfer efficiency throughout the freezing and primary drying cycles. Available in standard pharmaceutical sizes matched to common lyo equipment tray configurations. Supplied washed, depyrogenated, and ready-to-deliver.

04.Enzyme Bottles

Borosilicate · Low extractables · Stable across pH 2–12

Type I borosilicate glass vials and ampoules for enzyme solutions, biological reagents, and biotech liquid formulations. The chemically inert glass surface minimises non-specific protein adsorption and enzyme activity loss - critical for enzymatic preparations where container-to-product interaction must be controlled. Amber glass options available for light-sensitive enzyme formulations including peroxidases, photolyases, and carotenoid-containing preparations.

Type I borosilicate, Low extractables, pH 2–12 stable, Amber available, Low adsorption

product-1024-1024

Lyophilization is the most demanding environment a pharmaceutical container ever encounters. Sub-zero temperatures, deep vacuum, thermal cycling between −60 °C and +40 °C, and in-situ mechanical stoppering - every vial specification decision directly impacts process efficiency, product quality, and cycle time

Bottom geometry & heat transfer

Shelf contact · thermal efficiency

The heat transfer rate between the lyophilizer shelf and the vial determines both the freezing uniformity and the primary drying rate. Our lyophilisation vials feature a flat, optically polished bottom surface - maximising the contact area between glass and shelf metal, and minimising the thermal resistance at the interface.

Flat bottom - maximum shelf contact area

Controlled bottom thickness for uniform Kv (heat transfer coefficient)

Consistent glass wall thickness → uniform sublimation front

Compatible with PAT (Process Analytical Technology) shelf temperature monitoring

Thermal cycling resistance

−60°C to +60°C · no microcracking

A complete lyophilization cycle subjects the vial to multiple thermal transitions - filling at room temperature, rapid freezing to −50 °C, primary drying at −25 to −40 °C, and secondary drying ramping up to +20–40 °C. Type I borosilicate glass provides exceptional thermal shock resistance throughout this range without microcracking or container integrity failure.

Borosilicate CTE: ~3.3 × 10⁻⁶/°C - one of the lowest of any glass

Validated for repeated −60°C to +60°C thermal cycling

No microcracking under standard lyo cycle thermal profiles

Vacuum integrity under ≤ 20 Pa

Container closure · deep vacuum

The container must maintain structural integrity and be compatible with the in-situ stoppering process under chamber pressures as low as 20 Pa (0.2 mbar). The vial neck geometry and tolerances are specified to accept the lyo stopper smoothly during in-situ stoppering - without requiring excessive mechanical force that could cause vial breakage or stopper misalignment.

Neck dimensions toleranced for lyo stopper compatibility

Dimensionally stable under ≤ 20 Pa vacuum

Smooth neck finish for controlled stopper insertion force

In-situ stoppering compatibility

Hydraulic shelf press · controlled atmosphere

The in-situ stoppering mechanism presses all shelves together simultaneously under vacuum or nitrogen backfill - the most critical mechanical event in the lyo cycle. Our vials are manufactured with tight neck height and outer diameter tolerances to ensure every stopper seats fully and uniformly in a single press cycle, eliminating partially-seated stopper defects.

Neck height ±0.2 mm tolerance for uniform stoppering

Compatible with all major lyo equipment manufacturers

N₂ or inert gas backfill compatible

Chemical inertness during freeze-dry

No leaching · no pH shift

During lyophilization, the drug product is in extended contact with the vial in both liquid and solid states. Type I borosilicate glass has the lowest hydrolytic extractables of any pharmaceutical glass type - the freezing process does not increase extraction rates beyond those observed at ambient temperature, and no pH shift is introduced by glass dissolution.

Hydrolytic class I - lowest extractables of any glass type

No pH shift from glass leaching throughout lyo cycle

Stable for biologics, mAbs, vaccines, and peptides

Depyrogenation & validation docs

≥300°C · LRE ≥3 log · USP/EP

Vials are supplied depyrogenated by dry-heat tunnel at ≥ 300 °C, achieving a minimum 3-log endotoxin reduction (LRE ≥ 3) compliant with USP <1211> and EP 5.1.1. Depyrogenation validation data, temperature mapping records, and Certificate of Analysis are available for every lot to support your process qualification documentation package.

RECOMMENDED COMPANION STOPPERS

Complete the system - matching lyo stoppers

Every vial needs a stopper. For lyophilization vials, the stopper is not an afterthought - it is a critical component that must be dimensionally matched to the vial neck and designed for the specific demands of the freeze-drying cycle.

Auto-recommended - based on your vial selection

The stoppers below are selected to match the 20 mm vial neck diameter of our lyophilisation vials. If you are ordering a different vial neck size (13 mm or other), contact us for a matched stopper recommendation. Using a correctly sized stopper prevents insertion force failures and ensures reliable in-situ stoppering during the lyo cycle.
